This course serves as an introduction to the Rhetoric, Writing, and Information Design minor, in which students begin to create the writing portfolio that will be developed in more advanced courses across the minor.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Curate, arrange, and analyze a selection of writings into an extensible portfolio.
  • Practice writing as a process, recursively implementing strategies of drafting, revision, editing, and reflection.
  • Explain and employ effective practices for reflective writing aimed at multiple audiences.
  • Employ technology appropriately and engage responsibly in online spaces, be able to explain and practice good digital citizenship, and utilize the concepts of intellectual property (including copyright, fair use, and creative commons licensing).
